Amazon Germany has raised the threshold for free delivery on all orders for non-Prime customers to EUR29 from EUR20. Amazon said that this was its first increase in the threshold in 12 years and as it has expanded the range to over 25 product categories this rise is in line with inflation. Customers who also order an ebook, book or calendar will still receive free delivery regardless of their order value. This strategy is obviously a way of Amazon trying to increase basket sizes to reduce delivery costs but also to push more members to join Prime which at EUR49 in Germany is the cheapest in the world.
